Solid: 3D figure that encloses a part of space. Face: A flat surface or polygon that makes a solid. Polygon: A closed figure made of three or more line segments. Bases: A face of a solid usually located on the top or bottom of solid. Lateral Face: Any side of a solid which is a polygon. Edge: A line segment where two faces meet. Vertex: A point where three or more edges meet.

1. Describe the shape of the solid’s base(s). ◦ 3 sides = Triangular ◦ 4 sides = Quadrilateral: Square, Rectangular or Trapezoid ◦ 5 sides = Pentagonal ◦ 6 sides = Hexagonal ◦ 7 sides = Heptagonal ◦ 8 sides = Octagonal 2. Describe the shape as either a prism or a pyramid.
6
Name the solid that best describes each picture. Triangular Prism Hexagonal Pyramid Cylinder Square Prism Or Rectangular Prism
7
Identify the number of faces, vertices, edges, bases and lateral faces in the hexagonal pyramid. Bases: 1 Lateral Faces: 6 Edges: 12 Vertices: 7 Faces: 7
8
Identify each of the following. 1. The number of edges on a pentagonal pyramid. 2. The number of vertices on an octagonal prism. 3. The number of bases on a cone. 4. The number of faces on a hexagonal pyramid. 5. The number of faces on a hexagonal prism.
9
How is a prism or pyramid named?
10
Target: Identify the names and qualities of three-dimensional figures.
