3 England in America THE SPANISH ARMADA King Philip II wanted to make a Catholic ruler of the throne of England… Sir Francis Drake was granted Knighthood for raiding Spanish Ships. King Philip II ordered attack on England. Armada failed leaving Spanish out of control of sea. Allows England to start colonies in North America.

11 COLONIAL AMERICA PROJECT Your group will create a video or presentation on an early American Colony Topic 1- Introduction Be sure to include the date the colony was founded, the names of the founders, and whether it was part of the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, or the Southern Colonies. Topic 2- Geography What geographic features make these colonies a good place to settle? Topic3- Work and Trading How do the people in this colony make a living? Discuss the colonial economy. Topic 4- Cities/Towns/Farms What did colonial cities/towns include? Remember to consider shops, buildings, “common” areas, farms, etc. Topic 5- Everyday Life What was daily life like in the colonies? Include information about school, religious services, entertainment, and home life.
