1. Academic Adjective Pertaining to a college or institution of learning; scholarly Theoretical rather than practical; unrealistic EX: We need a plan of action, not an academic discussion. SYN: scholastic, speculative

2. Affluent Adjective Prosperous, wealthy EX: He is always borrowing money from his affluent relatives. SYN: flourishing, well-to-do, opulent

Anachronism Noun The misplacing of an object or event in a period to which it cannot possibly belong Anything out of its proper time frame EX: He is a bit of an anachronism – he throws his coat over puddles so his wife’s feet won’t get wet. SYN: incongruity, inconsistency, contradiction; throwback

4. Array Verb To line up; to dress up Noun An imposing grouping; rich and beautiful attire EX: The impressive array of uniformed soldiers marched during the Veteran’s Day Parade. SYN: align, assemble; lineup
