INTRODUCTION Currently, there are 3 eating opinion on campus. site map & photosite map & photo Demand for food is depending on students and staffs needs and wants According to ABS, there is significant growth of people undertaking further and higher education Considering above aspects, comprehensive research on the feasibility of opening another cafeteria in TAFE is taken up

OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH Primary objective is to determine the feasibility of starting up another café business in Ultimo TAFE College Secondary objective is to engage and provide students and staff with the opportunity to offer feedback on what their preferences in food and drink as well as suggestion on the availability of places and their perception of current food options This research can be useful for investors or people having the same interest in similar business

STUDY METHODS, SAMPLING AND DATA COLLECTION This research is based on primary and secondary data collected between March and April, 2012 Primary data is collected through a questionnaire survey conducted on campus Secondary data is collected from Australia Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), economic & trading research website and printed books & materials A random sample of people in the college is selected, a total of people participated in the study. The sample consisted of about 50% male and 50% female

STUDY METHODS Cont’d... All data collected from the questionnaire is analysed using cross-tab analysis so as to provide a wealth of information about the relationship between the variables

FINDING Table Those who use cafeteria are between ages 18-34 (total 67.5%) and three- fourths of them are students Graphs sheet1 Over half of people (65.8%) prefer take away than eat in and food services are quite efficient within 5 minutes (70%) Graphs sheet1 Over half of respondents (57.5%) often spend no more than $10 in cafeteria

FINDING Cont’d... Graphs sheet2 It seems like people need more Asian food in cafeteria Half people rarely use cafeteria, more than 30% people use it depending on how many days they go to TAFE

CONCLUSION Based on the findings of survey, it can be concluded that having another cafeteria on Campus is not viable at this moment Reasons: 1) Only 27.5% of respondents agreed to consider having another cafeteria 2) Already has plenty of places and there are repetitive food options on campus

RECOMMENDATION Invest in opening a brand new dining option which offers other types of food products that are not available on site By introducing a flexible and extended hours of operation of our proposed eatery The proposed eatery could have enough customers to survive if it is unique, providing tasty food and with good reputation
