Introduction Purpose: To strengthen people’s skills at managing their personal finances and taking control of their financial decision making

Action Pages Each teaching topic has a related action page Action pages are a “hands on” learning tool, similar to a handout or worksheet Each action page includes subject matter content or lets the learner practice what is being taught

Unit 1 – Connecting Culture and Financial Resources To help the instructor understand that learners may have different life situations and communication styles and to develop skills for working with people of various cultures

Unit 2 – Making Decisions About Money To help learners identify money goals that reflect their values and to develop skills in making decisions and talking about money

Unit 3 – Making a Spending Plan To help the learner make a plan for spending for one month

Unit 4 – Managing a Spending Plan To teach skills for managing a spending plan

Unit 5 – Saving and Investing To help the learner understand the importance of saving for emergencies and for future goals

Unit 6 – Understanding a Pay Statement and Taxes To teach learners how to read their pay statement and understand how the decisions they make when they are hired will affect take home pay

Unit 7 – Using a Bank Account To teach the learner how to keep track of their income and expenses by using a bank or credit union account

Unit 8 – Using Credit Wisely To teach the learner how to access credit, determine how much credit is affordable, and manage credit use

Expectations Train the trainer recipients will use Dollar Works2 in 1:1 or group settings with their clients Train the trainer recipients will complete and send evaluations to Extension for inclusion in statewide database

Benefits of Dollar Works2 Training Multiple agencies will use similar language and methods when working with clientele Clientele will gain money management knowledge, skills, and encouragement to become more self sufficient Statewide evaluation will show the difference being made Partnerships with Extension and local agencies will increase
