2. You will choose from a theme or from a scripted extract to explore these skills: Acting Sound Lighting Stage make-up Props Costume Set

3.  You will learn how to use a whole variety of different drama skills such as voice, movement and characterisation.  You will devise your own plays in groups.  You will look at a variety of stimuli and investigate an issue—social, cultural or political and from this your group will devise a piece of drama.  This could be scripted for some and improvised for others. Some pupils will be able to direct their own scene.  You will perform this to an audience

4.  You will evaluate and reflect upon your performance and the performance of others in your class.  You may watch a performance and evaluate and analyse this production.

5. You will be given a script to work from. You will co- operate with others to stage a production that will be assessed by the teacher if you are doing National 4 and by the Exam Board if you are doing National 5. You must attend all rehearsals and work hard to learn your part. This element of the course is worth 60 marks. You also need to complete a ‘Preparation for Performance’ essay that the SQA will mark on the day they visit. You can choose either an acting role or take on a theatre art e.g. lighting, sound, stage make-up, set, props or costume for this production.

6. You will sit a question paper in May/June of S4 worth 40 marks answering questions on a drama in which you have been involved and selecting a stimulus and devising your own drama from this and answering a variety of questions about how you would perform and stage it.
