Promotion of Pulses through Inter-Cropping in Kharif Season
3
Importance of Pulses Can be grown in a wide range of soils and climatic conditions. Play an important role in crop rotation, mixed & inter-cropping, maintaining soil fertility through Organic matter enrichment & Nitrogen fixation.

Strategy The M.S.P. should be linked with current market price of pulses. Promotion of line sowing of Pulses through use of Seed Drill. Seed Drill district targets should be enhanced. Encouraging the balanced use of fertilizers as per soil test. Popularization for use of Gypsum and Micronutrients as nutrition supplement for Sulphur, Zinc, Iron, Copper & Boron. Extension of Pulse area during Zaid through intercropping with Sugar Cane/Cotton. Promote intercropping of Urd/Moong with Millets specially in Jowar & Bajra and kharif Arhar. Disease control through cent-percent seed treatment. Pest control through use of NPV, P.P. Chemicals. Cont…
