Presentation Content MOH/RBC PowerPoint presentations should adhere to the following format; a. Title b. Overview c. Body d. Conclusion e. References f. Speaker contact information

Logos MOH/RBC presentations- MOH logo: title slide, top-left corner RBC Presentations- RBC logo: bottom-left corner Other logos: bottom of title slide, after RBC logo

Emphasis Bold text for emphasis is preferred; – italics, underlined text; harder to read Color contrast may be used AVOID USING ALL CAPS FOR EMPHASIS; TANTAMOUNT TO SHOUTING!

Fonts Simple and large; must be legible from the back of the room: – Use Cambria font for headings (at least size 36- font) – Use Calibri font for body text (at least size 24-font) Font sizes, styles MUST be consistent throughout the presentation.

Slide Background Keep slide backgrounds very simple; presentations must use a single background throughout Preferred background for MOH/RBC presentations is simple white with black text

Images and Graphics Image guidelines for MOH/RBC presentations: – Number – Placement – Quality – Type – Purpose

Images and Graphics: Number Number: No more than three images/graphics may appear per slide Too many images = distracting

Images and Graphics: Placement Placement: Graphics displayed on the left side of the slide with text appearing to the right or centered with a heading

Images and Graphics: Quality Use only high-resolution images; must be seen clearly – Avoid clip-art

Images and Graphics: Type High-quality photos and illustrations are permitted: – Bar graphs are pie-chart are preferred to data tables; easier to read – data tables: font must be large enough to read at the back of the room

Images and Graphics: Purpose Every image must serve a purpose; don’t bore or confuse your audience – USE “C2C” Correlate images to associated Content

Other Media Ex: video, audio clips, etc.: – Permitted, if relevant Online media: – Add link to slide – Fully loaded prior to the presentation Media content should appear on its own slide with a descriptive heading

Slide Content Text- Less is More: – No more than 6 lines of text per slide; no paragraphs – Need to elaborate? Use more slides, list only key points and explain points verbally

Slide Content Abbreviations: Permitted; ensure they are well-known or explain Revision: No spelling or grammatical errors – Use Spell-check! Slides must be in English.

Bullet Points Bullet Pont: Required format for presentation – No more than 6 bullet points per slide – General rule: 10 words or less per bullet No need for punctuation at the end of bullet points Each bullet = separate thought

Bullet Points Capitalization: first word in bullet only – Exception: other words that are proper nouns Left-justify all bullets – Sub-bulleting is permitted

Animation and Slide Transitions All slides should have swift transitions – Slide headings: Transition to display new slide – Avoid text animation; distracting

Oral Presentation Guidelines Do not simply read from the PowerPoint! – This is a boring and ineffective style of presentation – Instead, glance at the screen or your notes but Remember to maintain eye contact

Engaging Your Audience Time: – Keep presentations short and sweet! Most people can only concentrate for 10 minutes or less Utilize blank slides; bringing attention off the screen and back to you Longer presentations; use interactive pieces: – Video – Audience discussion points
