Surface Canada has a 9 984 670 square kilometer surface. Northern Canada is an Artic wasteland of islands and ice pack. To the south, the tundra merges into a land of coniferous forest and lakes. Religion It has no official religion but most of the Canadians are Christians.

History The original inhabitants of Canada were Amerindian peoples who crossed over the Bering Strait from Asia. The Inuits of the Artic arrived later. The vikings were probably the first Europeans to reach Canada. In a long struggle for regional supremacy, Britain finally emmerged victorous when French forces at Quebec were defeated by the Bristh troops in 1759. The French colonists maintained their individual indentity during Canada’s subsquent history, and separatism and autonomy for the province of Québec.
