Re-arrranging equations
Make ‘x’ the subject Re-arrranging equations
2
It’s all about opposites
‘Inverses’ as we like to call them
3
If you make something the subject then….
It will be on the left hand side of the equation and ‘equal to’ something
4
Make ‘a’ the subject of v = u + at
Take ‘u’ from each side v – u = at Then divide by ‘t’ v – u = a t
5
But it isn’t ‘a = ….’ So flip it
6
‘flipped’ gives us a = v – u t
v – u = a t ‘flipped’ gives us a = v – u t
7
Make ‘x’ the subject of v2 = u2 +2ax
Take away u2 v2 - u2 = 2ax Divide by ‘2a’ v2 - u2 = x 2a
8
Flip it! x = v2 - u2 2a
