Transmission of Tuberculosis Transmission is by infectious droplet –droplet diameter 1 - 5 m –droplet contains 1 - 3 bacilli –droplets settle 9 mm/min in still air –infectious dose is 5 - 200 infectious droplets –average patient exhales 1.25 infectious droplets/hour –some cases produce 150 - 200 infectious droplets/hour
