9
Why? Technicians perform a valuable role within the Civil Engineering Team, are under represented within ICE, and under valued by employers. There is a substantial opportunity to qualify technicians and develop and share knowledge, which is within ICE’s Royal Charter obligations.
10
Vision Build up Initial 5–year: Technicians are valued and recognised for their contribution to the civil engineering team by industry. 2,000 new Technician Members in 5 years (which currently would be 5% representation). Technician Members are fully engaged within ICE. 12-15 – year: Intermediate (changes in numbers): The TMICE membership is balanced at the same level of representation as CEng/IEng Membership (currently: 35% would equate to 14000 TMICE) Ultimate: 100% of civil engineering technicians are Technician Members and fully engaged within ICE. (Currently would equate to 40,000 TMICE)
