Karen Anderson-Practicum for Elementary Art - 2002 The Communion Class from Faith Lutheran Church, was invited to design and make their first communion cup out of clay

Busy as Santa’s Workshop!! The glazing was the most fun for the kids as they began to see what they had imagined,come alive The students put a lot of thought into the purpose for creating the cup.

Nelson County Art Camp The students made paper sculptures to match the artwork of the sculptor Alberto Giocometti They also learned about pastels and viewed the artwork of Wolf Kahn

Multicultural Mural Using their own drawings, students drew and painted scenes from the early west depicting positive interaction between the Native Americans and Settlers.

Free to Be Me Tree/ I gotta be me “batik” butterfly Students viewed pictures of butterflies and discussed how people like butterflies have many differences, but each is beautiful and unique. They made their own butterfly in wax resist, then displayed them with their photo

Carandache Prints Students learned about how prints are made and used nature’s patterns as motivation

Carandache Prints The younger students learned to make the prints also. I showed them a dollar bill and explained about prints The students were able to complete the printing process by themselves

Wire Sculpture Students learned about Alexander Calder’s Mobiles, then made their own

Hats Of Respect Students were shown different hats that people in helping professions wear. Qualities that the students respect of these professionals were also discussed. The students made their own hats of respect

Mosaic/Oil Pastel Vases Students learned about mosaics and using arbitrary colors to design and paint their own still life
