JOURNEY When Jesus was born he was visited by the rich and the poor: he was God for everyone. Mary and Joseph were patient, kind, and faithful. Jesus was Jewish. We are the sum of all of our life experiences; everything that we do (positively or negatively) teaches us how to think, feel, and behave in the future. Jesus’ was no exception: how and where he was born, the parents who raised him, the community in which he grew up all had a dramatic impact on who he was.

JOURNEY We can take physical journeys but we can also take journeys in life. One type of journey is “Religious Journey;” think of Jesus’ nativity: Mary journeyed to see her cousin Elizabeth Mary and Joseph journeyed to Bethlehem The Wise Men journeyed from the East The Shepherds journeyed from their fields The Holy Family journeyed to Egypt

JOURNEY Religion is finding answers to textbook questions. Religion gives students answers, facts, questions with definite answers. Religion involves learning the expected, the predictable. Religion is asking, “What am I supposed to believe?” Religious language is technical language about God. Religion is discovering open questions which need life answers (answers which we discover by experiencing them). … a life-long search, with open-ended questions. … waiting on the unexpected experiences … allowing ourselves to look at life with a new, fresh perspective. … learning from stories about how God has been shared by people Religious TripReligious Journey

JOURNEY As a class, let us read a story: “The Station.” Work with a partner and respond to the following questions in your notes: What does the station represent? How does this story refer to the journey theme? What are the next “stations” in your life? Do you take the time to enjoy your life’s journey between your “stations”? How? What wisdom does this story offer you about your goals? What do you need to change or continue to do?
