Societal Topics Weeks 7 & 8 Internet Regulation-is basically restricting or controlling access to certain aspects or information, IR also consists of: Censorship of data, and controlling aspects of the Internet such as domain registration, IP address control and more Internet Governance- IGR is a term that is used for a broad spectrum of things. It is a coordination of technical standards, the operation of critical infrastructure, development, regulation, legislation, and more. Internet governance is not restricted to the activities of governments Internet (IP) Addressing- Internet Protocol (IP) addresses are unique numeric identifiers that are needed by every device that connects to the Internet. The IP address is like a specific code for each device that is needed, most of the Internet is currently addressed with IP version 4 (IPv4) addresses Edx- is a wonderful way to take courses online for someone who cant afford school or have the money to do so.

Societal Topics Weeks 9 & 10 Windows 8-is a totally new version of Windows that, in addition to the traditional desktop, also includes a new-style interface for use with touchscreens - whether that's on a touchscreen laptop, all-in-one PC or tablet. It offers a new touch interface that’s better than the Windows 7, better multiple support monitors allowing you to do different tasks at once. Ipc6-IPv6 is the next generation Internet Protocol (IP) address standard that will supplement and eventually replace IPv4, the protocol most Internet services use today. It matters because an IP address is basically a postal address for each and every Internet-connected device. Without one, websites would not know where to send the information each time you perform a search or try to access a website. Routing autonomous Systems-As the Internet evolves and the number of network operators expands, a more standardized and automated model of routing security is needed so the internet society works to make sure that routing systems are stabilized, increasing routing security doesn’t allow for malicious activities to occur when routing systems fail. Net Neutrality -Network neutrality (or open inter-working) means that you are in control of where you go and what you do online. It ensures, allowing the freedom of expression, supporting user choice and preventing discrimination.

Societal Topics weeks 11,12,13 Border Gateway Protocol- BGP is especially used for exchanging routing information between all of the major Internet Service Providers (ISPs), as well between larger client sites and their respective ISPs. And, in some large enterprise networks, BGP is used to interconnect different geographical or administrative regions. BGP is primarily used to support the complexity of the public Internet. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) -is a type of online course aimed at large-scale participation and open access via the web. MOOCs are a recent development in the area of distance education, and a progression of the kind of open education ideals suggested by open educational resources. MOOCs typically do not offer credits awarded to paying students at schools. Standardization-The Internet is fundamentally based on the existence of open, non-proprietary standards. Some of the main groups that aid in the development of these internet standards are, IETF,IRTF,IAB. Spam-The Internet Society works with technical experts, policy makers, and local decision makers to help make sure knowledgeable decisions and actions are made in the fight against spam. It works on effective application of anti-spam law, awareness raising, development of technical solutions, strong international cooperation. Security- the internet has to protect everyone and their information so what the Internet society is like a global clearinghouse for Internet security information and education. Our activities address important economic, political, social, ethical, and legal initiatives that influence the evolution of a secured Internet. It offers solutions and resolutions to problems pertaining to security
