4. Menopause Occurs in women 40-60 yrs old. Four stages: Premenopause: Normal reproductive function; Perimenopause: Transitional stage. Occurs 2-10 yrs prior in women 35-50 yrs old; Menopause: End stage of reproductive life. Ovaries stop producing eggs, hormone levels (estrogen & progesterone) very low; Postmenopause: 12 full months without menstruation.
