2.2.2 State requirements for active membership in national FCCLA
Any student who is taking or has taken a course in family and consumer sciences through grade 12 shall be eligible for active membership in an organized chapter within the school. Active members shall be eligible to hold office, make motions and vote. Pay dues.

2.2.3 Develop ways to increase local chapter membership through use of current national membership campaign All chapters that affiliate with their state and national headquarters by March 1 are eligible for recognition in one or more of the following categories: Perfect FACS Participation FCCLA chapters Requirement: Affiliate on the state and national levels 100% of those students enrolled in the Advisers own FACS classes at your school. Be Part of It! Members get three new members. 3. Best Use of a National Program as a Membership Recruitment, Retention and Recognition Activity Using the planning process, FCCLA advisors demonstrate how one national program was used to incorporate the 3R's of membership. February 11, 1917-Smith-Hughes Act was signed, it provide the first national approval of vocational education in the public school. June 11, 1945-Future Homemakers of America was a white girls youth organization founded in Chicago. Dues were 10 cents.

Oct. 17, 1946 – Arkansas FHA chapter chartered as 37th State Association
July 1965-New Homemakers of America was the black girl’s organization that merged with Future Homemakers of America

May 1971-HERO (Home Economics Related Occupations) chapters were added
Oct – Home Economics changed to Family and Consumer Sciences July 1999 name changed to Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. October 1999 the new emblem (a visual symbol that represents a group) was adopted

To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life To strengthen the function of the family as a unit of society To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony To promote greater understanding between youth and adults To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities.
