Character committing fallacy: John Proctor Quote: Abigail – “Gah! I’d almost forgot how strong you are, John Proctor! Proctor – What’s the mischief here?(Act 1 Pg.176) Problem: Proctor is trying to change the subject about himself to the problem with Betty. He does this because he is trying to distance himself from Abigail.

Character committing fallacy: Reverend Parris Quote: Proctor- “Excellency, does it not strike upon you that so many of these women have lived so long with such upright reputation, and---” Parris- “Do you read the Gospel, Mr. Proctor?”(Act 3 Pg. 211) Problem: Proctor is proving a strong point that so many of the women that had been accused of witchcraft had a respected reputation in the community.
