Pulmonary Circulation- blood flow between the heart and the lungs Systemic Circulation- blood flow between the heart and the rest of the body

Blood – a mixture of water, minerals, nutrients, sugars and proteins red blood cells carry oxygen Heart- muscular organ about the size of your fist - pumps blood

Blood Vessels- hollow tubes that transport blood - arteries: carry blood away from the heart - veins: carry blood towards the heart - capillaries: smallest blood vessel, only one blood cell can pass through single file

Medical Problems atherosclerosis: fatty materials, such as cholesterol, build up on the inside of blood vessels hypertension: abnormally high blood pressure heart attack: when a major artery that supplies blood to the heart becomes blocked, a person has a heart attack and part of the heart can die
