1 Dictating Numeric Information Use tabs or create tables for the following exercises. Don’t worry if some of the numbers don’t come out right Just get a “feel” of how numbers work from these exercises.

2 Dictating Numbers 0 - 20  Create numbers 0 – 20 by saying Force Num before saying the number For Example Force Num 1 Tab Force Num 2 Tab (Dragon users can use the Number Mode or say Force Num before the number) Create a 5 x 6 Table and dictate the following numbers: 12345 678910 1112131415 1617181920

3 Dictating Numbers Above 20  Create numbers above 20 by saying the number (Dragon users can use the Number Mode) Create a 5 x 5 Table and dictate the following numbers: 2122232425 3637383940 100200300400500 3,0004,0005,0006,0007,000 2873,2894,89717,281478,297

4 Dictating Decimals and Fractions  Create decimals by saying 4 Point 8 to generate 4.8, etc.  Create fractions by saying 1 Slash 3 to generate 1/3, etc. Create a 5 x 4 Table and dictate the following numbers: 4.82.61.55.89.1 4.823.8982.89812.2825.829 1/3½1/8¼2/5 5/83/185/259/164/32

5 Dictating Dates  Create dates by saying them like you normally would say them April 1 nineteen eighty-six to generate April 1, 1986 or April first nineteen eighty-six to generate April 1, 1986  Create dates in all numeral format by saying them with slashes 4 slash 1 slash 86 to generate 4/1/86 Dictate the following dates: March 7, 1949 January 28, 2004 April 15, 2003 October 31, 1999 3/7/49 1/28/04 4/15/03 10/31/99

6 Dictating Phone Numbers  Create phone numbers by saying them like you normally would say them and pausing where the hyphens go five six two four seven five to generate 562-475  Parentheses are also optional and can be created in two different ways nine three two five six two four seven five to generate (932) 562-475 or Open paren nine three two Close paren five six two four seven five Dictate the following telephone numbers: 489-5492 328-4891 899-9635 (389) 489-5492 (346) 328-4891 (353) 899-9635

7 Dictating Currency  Create dollar amounts like you normally would say them three dollars and ninety-eight cents to generate $3.98 Dictate the following dollar amounts: $3.98 $7.15 $286.30 $128.29 $1,986.18 $25,467.32

8 Dictating Times of Day  Create times of the day that include a.m. and p.m. by saying them like you normally would say them 11:30 pm to generate 11:30 PM Create times of the day that don’t include a.m. and p.m. by saying o’clock 11 o’clock to generate 11:00 Dictate the times of day: 11:30 PM 10:45 AM 1:15 PM 3:29 AM 11:00 2:00 3:00
