R U MINE This video is all black and white which puts emphasis on the fact that this band are categorised as indie. The camera is mainly hand- held as shown in the photo, this makes the footage appear to be home-made. The band members are also wearing all black clothes and black sunglasses, these outfit choices would not be popular in pop videos, this puts emphasis on the indie label the band has been given. The video also has certain effects (shown in the bottom picture) which make the footage look like it was filmed on an old camera, these effects also make the footage look archaic. The edgy old fashioned effects also help the video to maintain it’s indie label and grunge theme.

R U MINE In this shot the lead singer in the band is shown to have a tattoo on his arm, tattoos are very common within the indie music category. Tattoos are also very popular within the rock category of music so for the lead singer to be seen with a tattoo gives the video an indie rock theme as well. This tattoo also helps support the idea of the video having a grunge theme. This photo is another example of how the women featuring in this video are mainly showed to be accessories to the band members. This man appears to be showing the women off by putting his arm round them, the women are also dressed in the same outfits, this objectifies the women and eliminates their individual personalities and identities.

R U MINE There are also women featured in the scene in the run down car park but they are shown to be accessories to the band instead of having individual important roles in the music video. Some of the women circle the band with flares whilst they are performing, this shows that the women are only there to draw more attention to the band, this creates a patriarchal ranking in the video because it shows that the men are of higher importance than the women. This woman (shown in the bottom picture) is stood on a pedestal in the middle of the set up while the band are performing, this shows that she is only there to be an accessory for the band while they perform.

R U MINE This photo shows the lead singer of the band to be laid back in a relaxed position in the back of the car, this laid back and care-free attitude is also common among rock and indie bands. I imagine that for arctic monkeys fans this video would inspire them to spend nights driving around and going out to abandoned, run-down car parks and being as care- free as the band members seem in this video. I feel this video represents what people in their late teens or older wish they could do, such as staying out all night and forgetting about responsibilities and having a care-free attitude to everything, especially for people who spend most of their time being responsible and living by the rules set by society, I think this video would inspire them to be reckless sometimes and not always follow the rules that are set by others.

R U MINE In the run-down car park scene, quite an old television is seen to be on set next to them performing. This prop in the video supports the theme of the video being old and archaic, if they had featured a new up to date television instead of an old one the video wouldn’t appear as old/old fashioned as before.
