What is a microbe?

Microbes are…. too tiny to see without a microscope, yet they are abundant on Earth. They live everywhere—in air, soil, rock, and water. microscopic organisms are found in plants and animals as well as in the human body. members of one of four major groups: bacteria, viruses, fungi, or protozoa.

Microbes were discovered by…. Robert Hooke first published a description of the microfungus Mucor Antoni Van Leeuwenhoek observed and described microscopic protozoa and bacteria Two fellows of the Royal Society between 1655-1683

Them germs ain’t all bad… Good microbes Used for medicine (penicillin) Make the soil healthy Help food get digested properly Used to make foods like cheese and bread

Good clean food is critical! If meat is not thoroughly cooked or vegetables not thoroughly cleaned, YOU CAN GET SICK! Either of these… Can carry this… Which makes you feel…

I’m sick! What should I do? 1 STAY HOME! This will help others from getting sick. Don’t leave home unless you have gone at least 24 hours without a fever. 2 STAY CLEAN! Don’t touch eyes, nose, or mouth. Cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue and throw away. Wash hands frequently. 3 STAY HEALTHY! Get a flu shot before you are get sick. Avoid contact with sick people. Get plenty of rest and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and drink water.
