4 Basic Care of Digital Equipment  Avoid touching the lens or viewfinder. As the glass gets oily, it is extremely hard to clean.  Don’t subject your camera to knocks, vibration, magnetic fields, smoke, water, steam, sand or chemicals, it will damage the camera.  Be careful where you put the camera down. Be sure to set the camera down in the middle of a table or a place that if it does get knocked over it will not fall off a table.

5 Basic Care Continued  Handle all moving parts of the camera with care and only when necessary.  You are not to handle equipment unless it is for training or for a shoot. THESE ARE NOT TOYS!!!!  Before capturing video, write down on a sticky note the beginning time on the tape to record the spot on the tape where the video begins.

6 Basic Care Continued  Replace the lens cover when you finish filming.  Turn the camera off before removing or disconnecting the power source or a cable, or removing the battery or memory card.  When possible, use a tripod. You need to take every advantage to get the best shot, a tripod will minimize shake and breaking equipment.

7 Basic Care Continued  Don’t store or use the cameras in humid, dusty or dirty places.  Cameras don’t do well in extreme hot or cold temperatures.  Don’t leave in direct sunlight for prolonged times or in a car when it’s hot.  Don’t drop in any type of liquid or food it may be damaged beyond repair.

8 Basic Care Continued  At the end of class you are to put all cameras, ipads, disconnected cords, and other devices back into the locking cabinet in the designated drawers.  If you need to use the camera the next day, be sure to mark down the time code on a sticky note and put your name on the note. Put the sticky note on the camera before closing the cabinet.
