1 Cosmetology Esmeralda López Miss. O’Dell Alternative English W/M 2 Senior Project

2  Cosmetology begun during the ice age.  They used 100% natural ingredients. › animal sinew or strips of hide to tie hair. › They used berries, tree bark, minerals, insects, nuts, herbs, and leaves for coloring.

3  The old fashion gone dramatic.

4  Got to have high school diploma or GED. › No diploma or GED no BEAUTY knowledge!

5  Always look good and change your style frequently depending how comfortable you feel.  Dress with fashion but yet say comfortable so you can do your work right.

6  Located in Rapid City, South Dakota › 40 classes a day, 5$ each › Working twenty-one hundred hours for 13 months › Nail Technology, Makeup, and Esthetic

7  Located in Los Angeles, California › they offer loan programs and down payment is required right away. › Two classes a year such as; nail technician, hair, or skin care.

8  Located in Queens, New York › You can pay as you go, pay a semester, or check qualification of a scholarship. › Nail Technology, Makeup, and Esthetic

9  Hairstylists offer services such as shampooing, cutting, styling and straightening. They are also able to attach extensions and fit wigs and other hair enhancements. They may curl, straighten or color hair in order to create styles of various shapes and textures.

11  The study of skin › Facial, body treatments, and waxing

12  After graduating from beauty school you will still be able to attend to classes to keep up to date and show you new stuff such as special effects makeup.

15  It’s important to listen and understand what the client wants. The littlest mistake could really hurt your career.

16  After graduating don’t go off alone › Expensive and tough to get clients

17  Mess up and lose a client › It’s very important that you don’t rush through things so you don’t make a mistake

18  Wearing gloves is important when applying and washing out color or applying any chemicals.

19  Allergic reactions to ingredients in certain treatments  Cosmetologists repeat the same kind of physical work/movements. It puts physical strain on the body, mainly in the joints, muscles and tendons of the hands and arms. › tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome are common in the profession.  Specialized scissors prevent from your tendons to be locked in one position.

20  Cosmetologist don’t only just apply makeup, drown your hair in hairspray, and put hot rocks on your body.  Cosmetologist also are trained to perform other tasks.

21  Easy way to get rid of wrinkles.  a trademark for a preparation of botulinum toxin, a protein that relaxes muscle contractions and erases wrinkles.  Botox can be addicting to some people, some people go way to far and end up in a disaster. 23  Intense pulsed light therapy is a treatment that helps with damaged skin due to sun damage, scars, acne, or simply just unwanted freckles. It also helps with removing unwanted hair forever!

24  People should be told by there cosmetologist to wash there face or use makeup removal. › Leaving your makeup on all night can damage your skin, making it look old.

25  If you make a client unhappy just remember that the client is always right › Just try what is in your hands to make the client happy.
