Energy wasting workout Find out how much energy is needed to power a light bulb?
2
What a waste! Most people waste energy. Wasting energy is polluting our world and causing it to heat up.
3
Do you ever waste energy? Do you ever leave lights on? How else do you waste energy?
4
Energy saving bulbs use less energy than normal light bulbs. Guess how many energy-saving bulbs use as much energy as one normal bulb. Normal 100W bulb. Energy saving bulb.
5
5 energy-saving bulbs use as much energy as 1 normal bulb! 100W 20W
6
Let’s find out how long you must run on the spot to light each type of bulb for one hour. Split into two groups, then run on the spot to light each type of bulb for one hour? How long do you think you will need to run? Do another exercise if you wish or pretend to be an energy making machine.
7
Jogging burns approximately 10 calories per minute!
8
Jogging for 1.42secs uses the same amount of energy as is needed to light one energy saving bulb for 1 hour. Jogging for 8.36secs uses the same amount of energy as is needed to light one normal bulb for 1 hour.
9
Be energy – efficient! But what can I do? If every household installed two energy efficient light bulbs, enough energy would be saved in a year to supply all street lighting in the UK.
10
Always remember to switch the bathroom light off after you go to the toilet. Only fill the kettle with the amount of water you need. Don't leave your computer on after you're finished using it. If you feel cold try putting on a jumper before you turn up the heating.
11
Make a promise to save energy.
