Stress: The general physical and emotional state that accompanies the stress response. Stress Response: The physical and emotional changes associated with stress Stressor: Any physical or psychological event or condition that produces stress

We all experience a similar set of physical changes during the stress response, however our stressors can be very different. Also, two people might react with varying levels of intensity to the exact same stressor. What are your stressors?

Eustress: “good stress” Stress resulting from a pleasant stressor Examples? Distress: “bad stress” Stress resulting from an unpleasant stressor

Allostatic Load: Long-term wear and tear of the stress response
High allostatic load has been linked to heart disease high blood pressure obesity reduced immune system functioning

Digestive problems Headaches and migraines Insomnia and fatigue Menstrual irregularities
