DOC’s protection of the Maui’s dolphin depends heavily upon citizens reporting sightings However, if the public is not aware that the dolphin exists, how are they going to report a sighting? Our surveys established only 5% of the public can accurately report sightings The Public’s Role

The public needs to be aware that the Maui’s dolphin exists They need to be aware that there are services to report a Maui’s dolphin sighting If the public is not aware of the dolphin, they cannot report a sighting. And if they cannot report a sighting, the species cannot be saved What does this mean for DOC?
