Office of the IP Coordinator Page 4 U.S. Government Internal Coordination Results: Seizure of Counterfeit Goods at Border U.S. Customs seized 14,000 counterfeit shipments in FY07 Value of those shipments – $200 million, a 27% increase from the previous year China remained the origin for 80% of counterfeit goods (Hong Kong next at 6%) Electronic recordation of IP rights Destruction of goods, seizure of assets & equipment, fines, imprisonment

Office of the IP Coordinator Page 5 U.S. Government Internal Coordination Results: Prosecution 230 IP prosecutors Criminal cases remain high: 33% increase over last 2 years Defendants sentenced for IP crimes: 35% increase over last year (92% over year before) Defendants sentenced to prison terms of > 2 yrs: 130% increase
