Mt. Everest Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. It has an elevation of over 29,035 ft tall. (Same heights as airplanes fly) It is growing at about 3 to 30 millimeters a year.

Ganges River Is a river in India that starts in the Himalayas and flows 1557 miles into the Indian Ocean. Considered by most Hindus to be the most holy river in India. Hindus believe that bathing in the river is spiritual Provides water for almost 1 million people.

Hindus believe that bathing in the river at certain times can get you forgiven for sins, and attain salvation. Hindus try to bathe in this river once in their lifetime. Many religious holidays are celebrated on the Ganges.

Yangtze River Yangtze Flows 3915 miles and is the only river in China that is deep enough for ships to travel. More then 400 million people live along the banks of the Yangtze.

The Chinese created a large dam on the Yangtze. The dam flooded a large area and displaced a about 1.2 million people. Also many precious artifacts were destroyed because of the dam.
