Before Disaster Soft Identify focal points for each stakeholder Establish partnership among different stakeholders Communication should be integrated into Community based disaster risk reduction through training, simulations…etc Clarify information flow (identify legitimate source of information) Technical Set up alternative infrastructure e.g. radio Train people how to repair / maintain infrastructure (ensure all equipments are working properly when disaster happens) Establish information system (early warning system…etc)

During Disaster Within the first 48 hours Activate existing communication plan/ mechanisms (regular meetings…etc) Utilizing network (partnership) Provide correct information to the public (role of media); make sure continuously update people on the situation Utilize social media (network) Technical Set up emergency communication (alternative) tools Damage assessment & Repair damaged infrastructure

Post-disaster Raising awareness on the needs of survivors Orienting the survivors how to cope with the post disaster situation Public education Identify lessons learned & improve disaster preparedness Advocacy on humanitarian issues like health, food, water…etc
