Interop 27-28 Sep 2007 CambridgeIVOA VOQL WG – Pedro Osuna Summary of Session (II) REGION implementation Implemented in SQL Server 2005, using UDFs, base on the Spherical library (C# + SQL) built for SDSS and the NVO Footprint Service Language interface similar to existing GIS services BNF construction Incredibly involved to check for consistency in the BNF JAVACC used, unit tests created to preserve structure when making changes Will make it converge with REGION definition -- using User Defined Functions

Maybe for next version RECTANGLE not the right definition, or not the right word… Agreed to use DEGREES in all REGIONs. But RADIANS are default for Trig functions (make that explicit in the doc) Change BOOLEAN to BIT, as it does not exist in SQL92 Might want to rename some STC related types/functions to start with STC_. Alex and Arnold will recommend Look for GIS compatibility: Contains-> Contain, Intersects -> Overlap, ToString -> AsText Distance -> SphericalDistance

NOT THERE YET (different group?)
