2. Introduction Welcome to Massachusetts! Our geological features will support your widget the most. ex: Waterways for fishing, trees for resources, etc. Our people will love the new entertainment and will most definitely buy your product. The economy will boom with the import of the new product. ex: smaller holes in net will catch all sorts of fish, not just one type.

3. Big Holes! Catches only big fish, while little and medium sized fish swim right through. Slightly Smaller Holes! Catches and contains all sizes and types of fish. Widget: Fishing Net

4. Colony History John Winthrop and Thomas Dudley led a group of puritans in 1628 explore an area of land granted by King James. In 1630 John Winthrop and a large group of Puritans arrived in Salem to explore the new world. In 1684 the British crown revoked the royal charter resulting in Massachusetts joining the Dominion of England. As the years passed Massachusetts Bay Colony became stronger in trade and shipping.

5. The People People in the colony were very religious, as they were Puritans. The first people to settle suffered from smallpox and malaria. At first, people were living in dugouts, wigwams, and huts, but architecture gradually became better. Colonists were expected to marry and produce offspring immediately, as the population was dreadfully low.

6. Climate and Geography Farmers in the New England had a very hard time of farming crops because of the soil, especially near the ocean. The oceans natural resource was fish for the Massachusetts. They had early and long-lasting winters. This wasn’t good for farmers because the cold weather would kill the crops. The geography of New England consisted of mountains thick with trees, rivers, and poor rocky soil that was difficult to farm and unsuitable for crops. Coldest of all New England Colonies, mild and very short summers leading to long, cold winters but less disease than in the warmer colonies.

7. Economy In the colony's earlier years, the economy was highly dependent on imports from England, and was supported by numbers of wealthy migrants. Ships built in the colony started trading as early as 1632. The colony purely relied on trade, as the area was not suited for agriculture. Shoe making and coopering (barrel making) started guilds, because they were popular items at the time. The Fishing Net will produce enough fish for money to raise the economy a giant amount.

8. Religion People of the Massachusetts Colony believed in Puritanism, also known as Separatists. Very high religious. Punishments for not following bible. Ex: Chopped fingers off for stealing Baptism important to Puritans, believed it was necessary for salvation. Puritans enjoy entertainment in daily life.

9. Government In the early 1600s, the puritans created the massachuestes Bay Colony for more religious freedom. The Massachusetts colony was Charter, which meant that the colonies were generally self-governed, and their charters were granted to the colonists. John Winthrop was the first governor of the Massachusetts colony. Its government was representative.

10. Native American Relationship There were many tribes living in the area the main tribes were the Alongonquin, specifically the Wampanoag and many others. In the late 15th century the explorers exchanged goods with the natives. The explorers brought over deadly diseases. This resulted in 90 percent of the coastal tribes wiped out, around the time the pilgrims arrived in 1620. The Europeans became friends with the Wampanoag tribe which was important to their survival.

11. Ending Our colony is the best place to be, no matter if you’re if you’re a wealthy merchant or a poor fisherman! You’ll always find a place in Massachusetts! Your Fishing Net will be very popular among all of the fishermen in our colony, and it will support everyone with plenty of food, as we don’t have very good agricultural areas!
