CONCLUDING REMARKS Open does not mean «free»: not always clear to authors Complexity: different models, not always transparent. More advocacy needed APC: what are fair APC? How are they calculated? Open access and rigorous peer-reviewing are fully compatible Research evaluation still strongly relies on impact factor : a barrier for Open access development? Are there other evaluation systems ? see ERC Open access not only concerns article distribution: services, data, networking …

CONCLUDING REMARKS Lots of guidelines, but nothing binding: need to establish mandatory policies? Open peer-reviewing has (at least) 2 benefits Increased submission quality More constructive peer-reviewing process Open access initiatives are often launched by researchers, but still not fully understood by the research community

CONCLUDING REMARKS We are in a transition period: where are we going and how long will it take… and cost? These questions remain OPEN!
