Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Traditional Knowledge collected: –trails and travel –birds –fish –land mammals –sea mammals –plants –water and ice –wind –terrain

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Elder concerns –land –water and air –waste management and reclamation

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Elder recommendations included: –no ice-breaking –implementation of monitoring program –test country foods for contaminants –environmental planning program –monitor for water flow and potential contaminants movement –clean-up mine waste rock

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Elder recommendations include: –use Inuit names for the mine –protect the land and water from damage –confirm there are no fish in High Lake and do not use for tailings if there are (agreed) –make sure that animals are prevented from drinking from the tailings pond –clean-up spills immediately

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Elder recommendations include: –leave site at closure clean –involve students and young people in future IQ –ensure barrels and dock do not blow away –do not use barrels of poor quality –check vehicles regularly –protect wildlife travel and migration routes –plan for raw sewage treatment –design project to not disturb dens

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Zinifex accepted the recommendations and used them in their project design and mitigation programs
