At the top, brainstorm some qualities of a great leader might have (intelligent, bold, trustworthy, etc) Then read the paper. Underline facts and details that would provide evidence that General MacArthur WAS a great leader. Circle facts and details that would prove he was NOT a great leader. Share out…

2 Compare your Qualities of a great leader with the details you found out about MacArthurs life. If the details are evidence, what qualities could you prove MacArthur had? What qualities could you prove MacArthur did Not have? What do you have the MOST evidence for? Put a next to your Top 3 Qualities!

4 WWII Leaders Outline All the meat of an essay without the essay… Choose a leader. Repeat what we did for MacArthur with your new leader. Decide if he was a great leader or not and make your claim. (you must take a stand, yes or no) Choose 3 qualities you can prove one way or the other. Present each quality separately with evidence. Explain how your evidence proves your claim for each quality. 50pts.

5 Grading for this Assignment: For a C on this assignment, follow the model above and use complete thoughts or complete sentences (dont make me guess what your subject is or who is doing what), be accurate, use correct spelling. For an A on this assignment, follow the model above, be accurate and use correct spelling but also compose your own thesis without using the sample thesis/claim, provide more than one piece of evidence for at least 2 qualities (preferably 3) with specific details for each one. Include some kind of below the surface or deeper connection between your evidence and your quality in your explanation. Write all information in complete sentences. For a B on this assignment, do all of the C work and some of the A work.
