2 Background This report documents Nuance Bull Terriers website traffic as measured by Google Analytics before and after a significant show win affected activity on the site. The Nuance Bull Terriers site has been online since 2002 and migrated to its own url, www.nuancebullterriers.com in 2007.www.nuancebullterriers.com The site’s most popular page is usually nuancedogs.html, which links to other pages with information about puppies and dogs living with the site owner, Cleo Parker. On October 11, 2008, a dog bred and owned by Cleo Parker, Nuance Nonsense, won the Silverwood Trophy for Best North American Bred Bull Terrier at a competition held in Orlando Florida. This is the most coveted award available to Bull Terrier breeders in North America and the event is attended by Bull Terrier fanciers from all over the world. The win affected website traffic dramatically, as this report details.

3 Unique Visitor Trend The impact of Nuance Nonsense’s Silverwood Trophy win on Nuance Bull Terriers site traffic is clearly evident Traffic dips to its lowest level on Friday October 10 th, the day before the competition and peaks on October 14 th – the day after all Silverwood weekend competition concludes

5 Traffic Sources Google search was the most common route for visitors to come to the site, followed by direct traffic (bookmarks and typed url) Note the influence of Victoria Corse’s USA breeder’s page, the local Bull Terrier Club of Metro Detroit (BTCMD) website, and ebullterriers online magazine advertising The high bounce rate for Bulltopia, a Taiwanese site, may be attributed to language differences

6 Content Detail The Nuance Bull Terriers page received the most page views during this period followed by the home page The Marley (Nuance Nonsense) page rose to third place, ahead of the litters and Cleo pages which usually out-rank it, during this period

7 Nuance Nonsense Trend When Nuance Nonsense (Marley) won the Silverwood Trophy on October 11 th, there was a marked increase in traffic to her page The high bounce rate (67%) indicates visitors came looking for the information on that page

8 Search Terms Nuance Bull Terriers and Nuance Bull Terrier were the most commonly used search terms Nuance Nonsense was the next most commonly used term, followed by several variations on Bull Terrier The search term Cleo Parker was also used by people looking for the site

9 Visitors by Country Most visitors are from the US, followed by Canada, Australia, and the UK. These countries are home to some of the world’s most prominent Bull Terrier breeders. Note the high percentage of first time visitors from the UK, where the breed originated, in particular

10 Visitors by City The highest number of visitors’ IP addresses not return a specific city ID Although neighboring Redford and the site’s home city of Livonia are high on the list, so are foreign Bull Terrier hot beds Sydney Australia and London, England  NOTE: this report was not set up to filter out webmaster’s activity; this oversight has since been corrected

11 Top Google Queries This report from the Google Webmaster tool shows search queries where the Nuance site appeared for the month of October, 2008 The search terms Nuance Bull Terrier and Cleo Parker drive a lot of traffic to the site Nuance Nonsense’s Silverwood win accounted for some search activity as well Note the prominence of the site in results for both “taping bull terrier ears” and “Keillor bull terriers” due to the presence of Michael Dunn’s instructional presentation on ear taping on the site which references both terms
