There will be homework, however, not every day. Whenever homework is assigned, it will be graded. Always be sure to write your homework in your planners. Homework will be posted on the website on Mondays but it is subject to change! That means, don’t rely on the website!

We will work on different vocabulary units throughout the school year. For each unit there will be a vocabulary test. You HAVE to write your vocabulary and show it to me the day of the test or YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THE QUIZ. Strategy: Read-Write-Speak Not taking the quiz = 0% Writing Vocabulary: flashcards, tables, typing it up, handwritten…

Each month you will have to work on a writing prompt. You have one entire month to work on them and they will be due the last class day of the month. The prompts will either focus on the theme of the unit or a specific writing style we work on during class. You can find a copy of your writing prompt on the writing board.
5
Every day you will work on grammar. DGP will take place as independent learning the first 10-15 minutes of class. Extra worksheets will be provided and of course, we can always go over the rules together. Please ALWAYS ask if you have questions. DGP needs to be handed in on Fridays.

DEAR = Drop Everything And Read DEAR will hopefully take place 2-3 times a week at the end of class. Sometimes you will get a little assignment to go along with your reading, sometimes it is just reading for fun. You can read a book that you bring to class, a book from the library, a book from here, a magazine, a newspaper, a textbook, etc.
7
All the books that are in the classroom can be checked out and taken home. Please always tell that you want to check it our and I will write it down. Please always return the books or you will have to pay for them. Take advantage of the books we have here.
8
Planners are mandatory! Not having one is not an option. Planners need to be purchased through the school. Use it as a learning tool and write down your homework, test dates, deadlines, etc.

Definition: The act of stealing or passing off the words or ideas of another as one’s own without crediting the original source. If you plagiarize, I will know. Plagiarism = 0% in the assignment. No excuses.
