Common reasons for parents contacting school. Notification of illness and absence. Request permission for your child to be out of school. Concern about a pupil’s progress - often after an exam. How can you help your child to settle into school? Take an interest in the work your child is doing at home. Set aside a regular time for homework to be done. Encourage your child to use the Study Planner. Set aside time for regular learning and revision of subject notes Let us know if your child has a problem e.g. the homework, a subject, friends, etc.

How can you assist your child to settle into school? Encourage them to make new friendships Encourage them to take part in after school activities Encourage good timekeeping and attendance. Get them to report any incidents of bullying straight away If a problem arises encourage them to seek informal advice from Pupil Support staff
