2 Canadian Experience Class to include foreign PhD students Canadian Experience Class is an immigration category for skilled temporary foreign workers and international students who wish to become permanent residents 3,917 permanent residents were admitted to Canada in 2010 through the CEC program PhD students can begin applying November 5 To be eligible, PhD students must have completed at least 2 years of study toward their degree and be in good academic standing. Graduates who are a year out of their program are also eligible to apply Up to 1,000 international PhD students a year will be accepted through the Federal Skilled Worker Program The aim is to boost Canada’s science, technology, and math sectors Will provide universities with another competitive edge in attracting and retaining top international talent. 17 Mid-Cycle Review update Total number of planned sessions: 44 (September 12 – December 6) Total number of sessions completed: 33 (as of November 21) Number of participants so far: 65 students Over 700 faculty/staff 25 alumni/donors Online survey being sent to all students, faculty, staff and 67,000 alumni Over 2,220 survey responses to date, with over 1,170 from undergraduates
