AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011 Public vocational training institution Trains more than1000 young people and adults from the age of 14 EQF 1-4: qualifications in the trade and catering industry as fully skilled chefs, pastry chefs, waiters and shop-assistants in its initial vocational training courses EQF 5: post secondary, higher vocational education courses (trade, catering and hospitality management) The institution is an affiliated training department of the University College of Szolnok. The higher vocational education courses are offered as credit- earning foundation modules towards the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in ‘Tourism and Catering’ & in ‘International Business Administration’

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011 Theoretical vocational education and training at school; Practical training at school (practice workshops, kitchen, restaurant, cabinets and offices); External training practice: the students are employed by trade, hotel and catering establishments and companies of Szeged as apprentices and interns under a special training contract.

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011 Content and format: centrally standardised and prescribed by the National Institute for Vocational and Adult Education. Each year there is an official list of the thesis topics. The thesis has to prove the student’s practical professional skills and theoretical knowledge as well. It has to be based on the student’s thorough studying of the special literature of the given topic and the student’s practical experience. It has to contain the student’s individual professional opinion and points of view. Length: 30-60 pages

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011 The final examination is a centralised, standardised national assessment developed by the National Institute for Vocational and Adult Education, and administered at the school. Module-based examinations with written, oral and practical modules, covering all subjects. In their final examination the students have to present and defend their thesis in front of the expert members of the Examination Board (7-10 experts). They get questions in connection with their thesis from the opponent expert and their theme leader. A B2/C1 level foreign language examination for special purposes is part of the final examination, with a correspondence, mediating and negotiating module.
