» Location: Where is it? -Absolute location: latitude and longitude of a place, or a street address -Relative location: what is it near? Landmarks?

» Place: what kind of place is it? » DESCRIBING the place -does it have mountains, rivers, beaches? -what kind of climate? -is it a big city, or in the country?

» Regions: Areas that share similarities -languages, landforms, functions, government Examples: The Great Lakes States, The South, The Middle East

» Human Environment Interactions: How humans use and change the environment, and how Mother Nature affects it Examples: -Hurricane Katrina’s destruction in New Orleans -Humans using a river for drinking water -The Hoover Dam -Human building a huge city near a sea port

» Movement: -people moving to other places for travel or by necessity -movement of ideas or things
