2 Countable & uncountable nouns
 things we can count an apple  singular: only one three apples  plural : more than one

3 Countable & uncountable nouns
 We use singular verbs or plural verbs with countable nouns. e.g. There is a chicken leg. There are three oranges.

4 Countable & uncountable nouns
 things we cannot count  We don’t use a, an or 1,2,3… before them. a meat two waters

5 Countable & uncountable nouns
 We only use singular verbs with uncountable nouns. e.g. There is a lot of soup. There is some water.  There are two waters.

8 Talking about a small amount
 We use a few and a little.  We use a few with plural countable nouns. e.g. There are a few apples. = not many apples There are a few fruit tarts. = not many fruit tarts

 We use a little with uncountable nouns. e.g. There is a little water. = not much water There is a little bread. = not much bread

 We use plenty of and a lot of.  We use plenty of with both uncountable and plural countable nouns. e.g. There is plenty of rice. There are plenty of chicken wings.

 We use plenty of with positive sentences.  We should eat plenty of vegetables. (positive)  Don’t eat plenty of sweets. (negative)

 We use a lot of with both uncountable and plural countable nouns. e.g. There is a lot of water. There are a lot of fruit tarts.

 We use a lot of with both positive and negative sentences.  We should drink a lot of water. (positive)  Don’t eat a lot of sweets. (negative)

19 Many, much, a lot of  We use many with countable nouns and much with uncountable nouns.  We usually use many and much in negative sentences. I don’t have many cakes. (negative) She doesn’t eat much fruit. (negative)

 We use too much with uncountable nouns and too many with plural countable nouns. e.g. too much water too many chicken wings
