What we will do to promote your exhibition RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 4 List your exhibition on the RMIT Facebook page You will be sent the link once it’s live and you can do what you like with it and invite your family, friends, industry Post images of your work onto the event site so people can get a taste of what is at the exhibition or at least can see the work if they can’t attend One person from the event will given admin rights to update the event if needed

What we will do to promote your exhibition RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 5 Media releases We will produce media releases to promote the RMIT Creative Festival Each week there will be a feature exhibition or event to highlight in the release A few images will be selected to appear on the homepage – so get in early!

Media Tips & Tricks A media release aims to capture the attention of journalists – it doesn’t have to tell the whole story. A journalist should understand the essentials from the first four paragraphs. The rest of the release builds on the information provided at the top. The best media releases: – are short, sharp and simple – have one sentence per paragraph – fit on one page – are jargon-free RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 6

What happens next? RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 10 You can download the ‘Student Initiative’ logo from the Creative Festival website to use on your invitations, etc Once you submit the details of your event, you will be provided with a link for your Facebook event and RMIT Event listing You can then invite family, friends, industry to your events Students are asked to submit their images on the RMIT Pinterest board for the ‘Pin to Win’ competition

‘Pin to Win’ Competition Entry process Create a Pinterest account (if you don’t already have one) Join RMIT’s ‘Pin to Win’ Board Pin your work with: –Work title –Your name –Your RMIT Program How to win Person with the most combined “Likes” and “Repins” wins the main prize with 2 runner’s up prizes as well (prizes TBC) RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 11

Green Inventors Competition RMIT is the Education partner for the Sustainable Living Festival 2014 (Feb, 2014) RMIT is running the ‘Green Inventors Competition’ again, open to all students You are asked to create a product, service or similar innovative invention that has a sustainable component and relevance You will be required to produce a two minute video that explains your sustainable green invention, similar to what is produced on the ‘New Inventors’, deadline in December (TBC) Prize money: $2,000 for the winner, $300 for runners up Terms and conditions are being finalised, so stay tuned for updates on RMIT’s Facebook page and MyRMIT on how to enter and when submissions are due RMIT University© 2013 Creative Festival – Staff & Student Briefing 12 Michelle McDonell, 2013 Winner of the Green Inventors
