North Main Street Project Milling & resurfacing of 1 mile of Main Street Project limits are from N. 8 th Avenue to N. 23 rd Avenue

HISTORY Board-Approved Cross-Section From N. 8 th Avenue to N. 16 th Avenue (March 11, 2008 BCC meeting) Install 11' wide travel lanes with a 10' wide center turn lane, and Widen existing concrete sidewalk on the east side of the road to an 8' multi-purpose path

Current Project Status (Plans 90% complete) Estimated cost of construction:$2M FDOT Project (Stimulus Funding) = $1.1M County Project (Gas Tax Bond) = $0.9M Project Timeline (pending BCC approval of plans) March 24BCC Review/Approval of Plans AprilFinalize Plans and Submit Plans to FDOT FDOT STIMULUS PROJECT (subject to Stimulus time requirements) Milling & resurfacing of 1 mile of Main Street Constructing medians Striping according to BCC approved cross section Begin County construction phase (bid, award, construct) – after FDOT project completion

Public Input: Meeting – January 12, 2009 Advertisement: flyers, mail outs and press release Input: Public wants to be informed of construction activities Staff will work closely with Communications Office to provide notification of road/sidewalk closures. Public concerned about access management initiative Staff has notified business/property owners of proposed changes. Staff has discussed individual concerns with property owners. Public Information Team: County, City of Gainesville, FDOT Current Project Status (Plans 90% complete)

Direct staff to complete plans and coordinate with FDOT. Direct staff to enter bid phase upon completion of Stimulus project. Staff Recommendation
