Intermediate State of dead represented by: Sheol, primarily in OT (translated, “the grave”) Hades, NT equivalent of Sheol - Two Views: 1. View 1: (Luke 16:19-31) a. Before Jesus’ Ascension, divided into two places: o Abraham’s Bosom, with great gulf fixed o Place of Torment b. After Jesus’ Ascension: o Only one Place of Torment for unsaved dead (Eph 4:8-10) o Paradise/Presence of the Lord for believers (2 Cor 12:1-4; Rev 4-5)
