3 Tools They Use The tools that are used in these occupations vary from location to location and may have some overlap, but these are the tools generally associated with each of the three. 8 Training Required Requirements may vary from state to state. The following are Texas requirements. A registered nurse must complete either an associate or bachelor's degree in an approved nursing program and pass a licensing exam. Copyright Texas Education Agency (TEA)

9 Training Required A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse that has completed a master's degree in nursing and passed a certifying exam in his/her specialty. A physician assistant must complete an approved physician assistant program and pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. Most programs result in a master's degree.
