U.2-1DISCOVERY CASE STUDY_The Income Gap Text pg. 252-253 Jigsaw Reading Activity a) Move tables into groups of 4 b) Preview the questions you are being asked by having each person read a question you need to answer c) Preview the text, look at headings, key terms, study pictures d) Everyone reads / Start with first paragraph with everyone reading the passages once with out answering the guiding questions e) Round-robin discuss with each person picking out one important new piece of information they learned f) Repeat step d but this time answer the questions g) Report out to class

U.2-1 PROCESSING GEO-ACTIVITY Break back into your tables Each of You will be assigned one of the following Countries You are then to create a poster that: Highlights the issue and effects of poverty and income inequality in that country Includes one Graph (Line, pie or bar graph) that highlights one aspect of poverty – Unemployment rate, Income Gap, Education levels, Number of Homeless people Includes a map of that country with capital city indicated along with four major cities Includes at least 3-4 printed photos showing poverty in the country Research 3 ways poverty is being addressed in the country and explain it.
