4 Tutoring Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Starts at 3 p.m. in the Library Only practice, no play…. – For one full quarter if student has 1 or more F’s on quarter report card Academic Coaching (required tutoring)…. – For one full quarter if student has one or more D’s and F’s on quarter report card - 8 th Grade Q4 term GPA will be used for Q1 of 9 th grade – Previous Quarter GPA is below 2.0

5 College Info Keep Filling Out Those College Applications! As of today, 38.6% of the senior class has applied to at least one college. Those who have not and plan to should do so before we leave for winter break. Most college applications take 15-30 minutes to complete. Buffett Foundation Scholarship The scholarship can be used to cover expenses related to attending college. The Buffett scholarship can be used to cover expenses related to attending college, It is typically used for tuition, fees and books. The scholarship amount typically covers the cost of tuition for a full-time student, based on the institution they are attending. Qualified applicants must have an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher, be a first-time freshman when entering college and plan to attend a Nebraska public institutions (UNO, UNL, UNK, Wayne State, Peru State, Chadron State,MCC, CCC, Mid-Plains CC, NECC). Students need not be Pell eligible; families with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $15,000, are encouraged to apply. To calculate your EFC, use the College Funding Estimator at http://www.EducationQuest.org.http://www.EducationQuest.org. The Buffett scholarship application is available now on http://buffettscholarships.org/. Due dates: February 1, 2015 The initial application, student essay and two letters of recommendation March 15 The student aid report (generated by your FAFSA) FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) In January and February, we will offer FAFSA application assistance to students and families. Any student planning to attend a college or university this fall must fill out the FAFSA. EducationQuest services Jessica Hendricks, from EducationQuest, is available to meet with students each Wednesday at Benson to help out with FAFSA, scholarship and college applications. ACT Test: Next test is February 7, 2015------ Must register by 1/9/15

6 Senior Stuff (Yearbook) Senior Photos If you missed the 11/25 deadline to turn in photos, make sure you submit one to Mrs. Garman ASAP. Photos may be submitted in person to room 104 or by email to justine.garman@ops.org. Yearbooks for Sale Yearbooks are on sale for $35 instead of the normal $60. This is the lowest price in 20 years. The price will go up after Christmas. Yearbooks may be purchased at jostensyearbooks.com or in person in room 104. Senior Recognition Ads Recognize your senior by purchasing an ad in the yearbook! Prices start at $40. Limited space is available. Contact Mrs. Garman in room 104 or at justine.garman@ops.org.

7 Graduation MidAmerica Center: Council Bluffs, Iowa Monday, May 18, 2015 at 7:00p.m. – Seniors’ last day of classes is Thursday, May 14 th – Graduation gown pick up TBD – Fines must be paid prior to graduation 6 free tickets per family – Up to additional 10 per family ($5 a piece) – Forms will be sent home in February
