What is the LLEP? LEPs introduced by Government through the Localism Act LLEP is one of 39 national LEPs formally recognised by HM Government Partnership between business, local authorities, Higher Education, Further Education & VCS

Key Priorities

PlaceBusiness People Intervention Logic: Our SEP (including City Deal and ESIF) will address the risks constraining economic growth and will build on our strengths and assets Demand for 210,800 sq. m. offices, 167 ha of industrial land and 130 ha warehousing land 70% SMEs have growth plans but need help Employers reporting lack of skilled workers in key sectors e.g. engineering Congestion causing increases in business costs 20,000 less jobs in the economy since 2008 Long term unemployment, youth unemployment & NEET

Next Steps ESIF Strategy not yet signed-off by UK Government UK negotiations with EC expected to be completed by December 2015 ESIF Programme launch anticipated in January 2015 Free ESIF Workshops: 9 th October – Introduction to the LLEPs ESIF Strategy 23 rd October – Employment, Social Inclusion & Skills 4 th November – SME Competitiveness 26 th November – Innovation, ICT & Low Carbon
