During a week in October 2011 (Monday-Sunday) students mapped their everyday activities and eating habits Students from classes 4-9 (age 10-16) participated in the survey 76 students completed the survey Comments from students: I’m really interested to find out how my coevals in other countries spend their time and what they prefer to eat

The following activities were surveyed: time spent on homework time spent on computer and watching TV reading time the survey showed that children spend considerably more time on computer or watching TV (total 83%) than doing their homework or reading!

Students identified the extra-curricular activities they took part in the school The survey showed that among the 4th-6th graders girls preferred pottery classes, choir singing and folk dance, while boys favoured sports and floorball The 7th to 9th graders preferred singing (girls) and sports/floorball (boys) Many of the students noted that they like to spend their free time with friends, do sports and listen to music

Our students sleep from 7-9 hours a day Some students go to bed very late – at midnight or later 40% of the students walk to school, 54% come by schoolbus or car and 6% cycle to school

30 % of the students eat bread/toast for breakfast, 15% eat porridge or cornflakes,19% have a hot drink On the negative side - 13% do not eat anything for breakfast On the positive side – our students get a free and healthy lunch at school Vegetables and salad make up only 6 % of their diet, but they also do not eat much fast food
